Totally cute haha. I dunno I just love Hong Kong's face lol.
Well in regards to the celebration...I dunno. I'm not sure if most ppl in Hong Kong was happy to revert back to Communist China. Most of them were afraid that their capitalistic economy would be influenced and stopped. However it was a BIG deal to Mainland China. They saw it as a return of something that was rightfully theirs and forcefully taken away. It was something related to Chinese national pride. Probably people saw it as a return of Chinese power (1900s was not kind to China at all). So yes I suppose it IS a celebration of the fall British Empire but depending on your perspective, you can also see it as Chinese empowerment?
Awww, that's so cute~ hehehe~ I <33 Hong Kong's character design~
Yeah, I can't say that the handover was... necessarily... good? I guess it depends on your perspective... I mean, Hong Kong's still not "completely" in China's control... they made a deal because they feared all the businesses in Hong Kong would leave if they had to join Communist Mainland China...So I GUESS Britain was really the one that lost out. China "gets back" Hong Kong and Hong Kong is still free to continue its economic ways....
Eh... history's weird....*shrug*
But yeah, my life story's pretty the exact copy of yours... *except I was 5 and happily living in the US, not Canada* My Canto is absolutely horrible xDD;;;

Well, that's a way to look at it. Thanks for your input. (: I usually don't think much of it, but it does play a part in my family history (and hetalia is making me think, gosh darn it) so I decided to look a bit into it.

Yeah, it's all perspective. Britain's been losing a lot since its colonies all ran away. History is history, just something to look back and reflect on, i guess.
Haha, part of the migration out, huh. Augh, Chinese in general is like, needlessly complicated. I can't speak a lick of it, Cantonese or Mandarin, much less read or write it. My cousins who live over there think im a moron. orz
